After today I feel overwhelmed. Field reporting can mean so much, literally. It means standing in a forest watching local loggers cut down trees. It means exploring the beauty of a natural spring. It means walking to a cave and learning about the breeding season of gray bats.
Today we made six stops before we reached our final destination in Popular Bluff, Mo. We visited a sawmill, two forestry sites, a short-leaf pine stand, the Round Spring and the Big Spring, both in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.
Today’s experiences taught me what is required of a field reporter. Tomorrow it will be interesting to report on the flooding in the Mississippi County region near East Prairie.
