Though water line is down, emotion still high in East Prairie

More than four months after the Birds Point levee breach in southeast Missouri, communities such as East Prairie are still struggling.

Kevin Mainord, mayor of East Prairie, explains the lack of reimbursements for people in the community.

The levee was breached in early May by the Army Corps of Engineers to protect the town of Cairo, Ill.  Mainord said the breach was unnecessary because Cairo’s flood wall stands high enough at 64 feet.

Mainord explains why he feels Cairo was not at a greater risk than East Prairie.
